On 21 November 2022, the National Nuclear Regulator (NNR) of South Africa held a successful nuclear safety bilateral cooperation meeting with the French Nuclear Safety Authority – ASN. The NNR and the  ASN have a long standing arrangement for the exchange of technical information and collaborative activities on nuclear safety and radiation protection. Senior ranking officials including the NNR CEO and ASN Commissioner as well as technical experts from both organisations presented their regulatory priorities, exchanged regulatory experiences on topics of safety significance on nuclear power plants.  The meeting was led by Ms Ditebogo Kgomo, NNR Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Jean-Luc Lachaume, ASN, Commissioner. The meeting was followed by a site visit to the Koeberg nuclear power station on 22 November 2022.
